The Mintard Ruhr Valley Bridge is the longest steel bridge in Germany and is considered one of the largest bridge construction projects in Europe after the Second World War.
It sweeps in an elegant arc 1830 meters long, reaching a maximum height of 65 meters above the Ruhr Valley near Mülheim. The roadway rests on a total of 18 reinforced concrete pillars and runs from Ickten to the Mintard farms.

The task
The A52 bridge over the Ruhr Valley (Mintard Bridge) is being surveyed by VTW in cooperation with Autobahn GmbH . Over the next three years, we will monitor deformations of the steel trusses and crossbeams. These results will provide the basis for determining appropriate reinforcement measures. No closures will be necessary until the planned bridge reconstruction. We will be using our specialized equipment to measure the 18 piers over a total length of 1800 meters for three weeks.
